SCOREPAK® score and item FILES

ScorePak® score and item files are available by request to assist in further analyses or for submission to Catalyst Online GradeBook. Each score and item file includes information for all students. Files are generally output as an Excel spreadsheet. Other format options are Fixed Length Text and Comma Delimited Text.

Score Files

Score files include students' names, IDs, and scores for each exam specified.

The order of scores is alphabetical, unless they are requested to be listed in a different order under Selected Scores on the ScorePak® Service Request form. For missing scores, value and version are blank.

Record length is determined by the number of scores.

Item Files

Item files include students' names, IDs, and responses to each question.

The content of the "Extra" field  varies according to the answer sheet used. For Standard Answer Sheets this field will be blank. For the General Purpose NCS, five-choice answer sheet (blue), this field will contain: Sex, Birth (month, day, year), Identification J, Special Codes K-P, and one blank column.

Record length is determined by the number of questions. Unmarked fields are output as blanks. Multimarked fields are output as asterisks (*).

    Score File  (Fixed Length Format):

    48-62 15 First Score: name (8), value (6), version (1)
    63-77 15 Second Score: name (8), value (6), version (1), etc.

    • This format does not contain score name or version. Specify Comma Delimited format in the Score & Item Files section on the ScorePak® Service Request form.

File Transfer Methods

We will send student item responses and/or test scores to you as an e-mail attachment. At your request, we can provide files to you on a diskette.
