Minority Affairs
The Educational Opportunity Program, administered by the Office of Minority Affairs, provides services to approximately 2,500 students from minority and economically/ educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. These services include recruitment, academic advising, tutoring, personal and career counseling, housing and financial aid advising, and other types of assistance.
The Office of Minority Affairs operates the Instructional Center, which helps students strengthen their academic skills and improve course work.
The Office of Minority Affairs also administers the Early Scholars Outreach Program, Educational Talent Search, and an Upward Bound Program reaching into the K-12 schools to help identify and encourage minority and disadvantaged students to pursue higher education. The office encourages minority and disadvantaged students at the UW to pursue graduate education through the Early Identification Program, which provides a year-round system of information, support, and mentoring.
