Graduate and Professional Students
The University of Washington has some of the most sought-after graduate and professional programs in the country. Graduate study has several important functions: it fosters research that advances human knowledge; it educates scholars and teachers; and it makes information and help available to various sectors of the public.
More than 23 percent of the more than 11,000 graduate and professional students at the UW are enrolled in programs in the College of Arts and Sciences. The next most popular programs include engineering, business, education, public health and medicine. About 66 percent of all graduate students and professional students are Washington State residents. About 15 percent are international students.
