Bothell and Tacoma Campuses

[Photo: taking notes] To broaden access to higher education, both geographically and demographically, the University in 1990 opened two new campuses, University of Washington, Bothell, and University of Washington, Tacoma. Both institutions offer programs for upper-division undergraduates students who have previously completed two years of college-and for master's-degree candidates. Both serve diverse student populations through a combination of day, evening, and weekend classes.

UW Bothell serves residents of north, northwest, and northeast Puget Sound. In an innovative arrangement for sharing some facilities and promoting interaction, Cascadia Community College is located on the same campus. UW Tacoma serves residents of that city and the surrounding area. It is located in an urban center that is redefining the city of Tacoma. The new campus-sited in Tacoma's historic warehouse district across from the Washington State History Museum-transforms 19th century, brick-and-stone buildings into 21st-century academic space.
