UW tops national primary care medical school rankings for 11th straight
year
The University of Washington again has been ranked first
among primary care medical schools in the country, according
to annual rankings of graduate and professional programs
provided by U.S.News & World Report.
The School of Medicine
also was ranked the10th top research school.
Academic
specialties in the medical school that were ranked highly
include: Family medicine (1), rural medicine (1), AIDS (4),
internal medicine (5), geriatrics (7), pediatrics (9) and
women's health (10).
The bioengineering program, jointly
administered by the School of Medicine and College of
Engineering, was ranked 4th in the country.
Other top 10 UW
graduate and professional programs newly ranked this year
include:
Social Work (3)
Speech language pathology
(3)
Public affairs specialties: environmental policy and
management (8) and nonprofit management (7)
Engineering
specialty: computer engineering (9)
Education specialties:
elementary education (10), secondary education (9) and
special education (10)
Also appearing in the issue

The rankings are
established using such measures as statistical analysis of
selected academic attributes and surveys of deans and senior
faculty at accredited schools in each
discipline.
