“I Think You’re Totally Wrong: A Quarrel,” a film directed by James Franco based on UW English Professor David Shields‘ latest book, with former student Caleb Powell, will be shown at Seattle literary venue Hugo House at 7 p.m. May 30, 31 and June 1.

The screenings will be U.S. premiere for the film, which made its world debut May 3 at the DOXA Documentary Film Festival in Vancouver, B.C.

“Life is serious business,” Shields said recently. “We all have only one shot. We all make a series of decisions that are fraught with their own excitement and terror. The book and film are about Caleb and me confronting those decisions. There’s no one right answer. I’m not more right than Caleb is. I hope our conversation encourages people to confront the existential journey of their lives — and the tragicomedy of choice.”

Hugo House is at 1634 11th Ave. in Seattle. Learn more about the event, which will include a Q and A session after the screening with the quarrelsome authors, online. Tickets are $7.
