The University of Washington’s School of Dentistry and School of Public Health are ranked No. 3 in the world on the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects list for 2017. Other UW subjects ranked in the top 10 include biological sciences, biomedical engineering, clinical medicine, Earth sciences, pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology. In total, 30 UW subjects were ranked in the top 50.

The group ranked more than 4,000 universities around the world in 52 subjects across natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences.

“This is wonderful recognition of the excellence of our faculty, students and staff, and a clear sign that their positive impact on our world is being noticed. It’s also a reflection of the strength of our commitment to the public good, and the potential of the UW’s Population Health Initiative, to have so many well-regarded academic disciplines in the many fields that influence health and well-being,” said UW President Ana Mari Cauce.

In 2016 and 2015, the UW was ranked No. 15 on the group’s annual Academic Ranking of World Universities list. This year’s university ranking has not yet been released.
