Arts Roundup: ArtVenture, Vicente Amigo – and Brooklyn Bridge

This week, catch the final events of two series: UW Drama’s Seattle Theatres Lost & Founded play readings and the School of Art + Art History + Design’s Critical Issues in Contemporary Art Practice lectures. Hear performances by the UW Wind Ensemble, UW Symphony, and Latin Grammy Award-winning flamenco guitarist Vicente Amigo. Bring the whole family to campus this weekend for a fairy tale-themed ArtVenture at the Henry Art Gallery.

David Alexander Rahbee conducts the UW Symphony in a program including Rachmaninoff’s popular Symphony No. 2 and a performance by cellist Hye Jung Yang, one of the 2015 UW Concerto Competition winners. More info.

ArtVenture: Fairy Tale Mash-Up with Lauren Boilini

Held the second Sunday of every month, ArtVentures encourages families to play, learn and create together. This month, families will explore the Henry’s new exhibition: “Paul McCarthy: White Show Wood Sculptures,” and then create collaborative artwork that captures their own fairy tale characters. Seattle Theaters Lost & Founded

The School of Drama concludes Seattle Theaters Lost & Founded, a five-part series exploring the seminal Seattle theatres of the past. For this final event of the series, hear a public reading of plays from the now-closed Empty Space Theatre. More info.

Brooklyn Bridge

The School of Drama teams up with Seattle Children’s Theatre for “Brooklyn Bridge,” a humorous drama celebrating the making of things, from research papers and bridges to communities. Designed for families with children ages 9 and up. Come early to the March 11 performance and enjoy Arts Dawgs lobby activities for the whole family. More info.
