The University of Washington is inviting students, staff, faculty and members of the community to participate in public meetings on Oct. 14 and 15 to kick off a two-year effort to develop the next master plan for the Seattle campus.

The next master plan will guide the future development of the Seattle campus from 2018 to 2038. The plan will determine how the Seattle campus can grow in response to increasing student enrollment and research demands while preserving the beauty of its physical environment and minimizing the impacts on its neighbors.

The next plan will continue the tradition of identifying which areas of campus will be open space, potential development sites and how the University will handle transportation in and around campus.

The two meetings will include an overview of the master planning process and timeline and an update on potential growth and development concepts to be explored in the master plan. The meetings are part of a community outreach effort to encourage early, ongoing and meaningful participation in the master planning process from individuals, organizations and neighborhoods that have a vested interest in the future of the Seattle campus.

The community can learn more about the plan as it is developed and submit comments through the UW Campus Master Plan website; the Campus Master Plan Facebook page; on Twitter (@UWCMP); by calling 206-543-1271 or emailing at cmpinfo@uw.edu. Public meetings and forums will be held in the future by the University and the City University Community Advisory Committee (CUCAC) during the development of the Draft Plan so that the University planning realm and community can come together to discuss critical issues and proposals and share ideas and concerns.
