Applications sought for UW-University of Ljubljana exchange

News and Information

The University of Washington – University of Ljubljana Exchange Committee invites applications from UW faculty, other academic personnel, and senior graduate students to visit the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) during the 2013 calendar year.

Academic visitors are expected to give lectures, interact with Slovene students, and collaborate with Slovene faculty colleagues in their field of study. The visit must be completed by the end of 2013, and should take place while the University of Ljubljana is in session (spring or fall semesters). The UW Exchange Committee will reimburse UW participants for airfare to and from Ljubljana, while the University of Ljubljana will provide room and board. Two UW participants, each staying for a period of two weeks, can be supported.

Applicants should submit their CV and a cover letter which explains the academic value and proposed outcomes of the visit and identifies the University of Ljubljana faculty colleagues with whom they will be collaborating. A copy of correspondence with the applicant’s Ljubljana counterparts, particularly as it outlines the plan of collaboration and gives evidence of the host institution’s endorsement of the visit, should be included. UW participants in the program are required to submit a concise report identifying the academic outcomes of their visit and describing prospects for continued collaboration.

The deadline for applications is Monday, Dec. 3. Applications and questions about the program (a fact sheet is available) should be addressed to: Michael Biggins, chair of the Ljubliana Exchange Committee, UW Libraries, Box 352900, mbiggins@uw.edu.
