Weekend activities at the Burke Museum, Renaissance organ music in Kane Hall and a UW Bothell conference on poetics lead the last quiet week in UW arts before the new school year starts.

If you’d like to sing for a UW School of Music choir, Friday’s public auditions are your chance.

Also, UW students have a host of activities to choose from as part of Dawg Daze 2012, through Sept. 28.

School of Music choral ensemble auditions, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., Sept. 21. Gotta sing? The School of Music understands, and offers public auditions for its Chamber Singers, University Chorale and Recital Choir. It’s the second of two days of auditions. Learn more and sign up online. Burke weekend activities, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sept. 22, 29. The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture is now offering special gallery activities on weekends. This month, learn about marine invertebrates. Free with museum admission.

Littlefield Organ Series: Fabio Ciofini, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25. Italian organist Ciofini will perform Italian music from the Renaissance and Baroque eras on the UW’s Littlefield Organ in Kane Hall’s Walker-Ames Room. Tickets are $15, cash or check at the door. 206-685-8384.

“Convergence on Poetics,” Sept. 27-30. UW Bothell is holding a conference at its North Creek Events Center that explores contemporary poetics through keynote panels and poetry performances. The event also marks the launch of Bothell’s new masters of fine arts in creative writing and poetics. Poetry performances at 8 p.m. on Sept. 28, 29.
