Engineering Discovery Days April 20-21 coincides with HuskyFest

UW News

The UWs College of Engineering will open its doors Friday and Saturday, April 20-21, for the 2012 Engineering Discovery Days.

The school-age group tours Friday are at capacity, but individual families and members of the UW community can still come see the exhibits and meet the research teams.

Saturdays program is specifically aimed at high school, community college and transfer students who are interested in UWs engineering program. In addition to the research exhibits, UW staff will be giving presentations on such things as admissions, individual departments and financial aid.

The event is free and open to everyone, but attendees are asked to register online.

This years event will be part of HuskyFest , the campus-wide celebration of the UW’s 150th anniversary that runs April 19-21.

The engineering event’s history spans almost a century: The first UW engineering open house was held in 1914. Exhibits have changed over time; this years program includes flying quadrocopters, human-powered submarines, student-built race cars and, of course, robots.

Event updates and photos will be posted on the new Engineering Discovery Days Facebook page.
