Combined Fund Drive extended through Dec. 9

Still havent contributed to the Combined Fund Drive? Dont worry, theres time. The drive has been extended a week and will now continue through Dec. 9.

The CFD is Washington states workplace giving campaign, and donors can choose from more than 3,400 nonprofit agencies throughout the area. You can give a one-time donation, or give all year through payroll deduction, and donations are all tax-deductible.

Kerri Everly, campaign manager for the CFD, said the extension will help the campaign approach its goal this year of $2 million in pledges from UW faculty and staff. As of Thanksgiving, the campaign had raised $1,824,483, she said.

“This is a great last-minute opportunity to support charities,” Everly said. “The campus community has been very generous during these tough times, stepping up to help others when they really need it.”

The CFD continues to raise money for PAWS in change jars across the campus, and that part of the drive will end on Dec. 2.

Everly said the CFD is holding a contest designed to increase the campaigns Facebook following. All you have to do is visit the UW CFD Facebook page and press “like.”

“Our goal is to reach 200 fans by the end of the campaign. All UW staff and faculty are eligible to enter. If youre already a UWCFD Facebook Fan, then youre already entered to win. Spread the news so we can make it to 200 fans by Dec. 2.” The winner, chosen at random, will win a $25 Chipotle gift card.

You can learn more about the campaign — and donate online now or any time — at the CFD website.
