Got the urge to touch a wolf pelt? Assemble an orca skeleton? Maybe make an ape mask?

You and your family can do all these at the UWs Burke Museums annual Meet the Mammals event, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.

Its the only chance of the year to see hundreds of specimens from the museums mammology collection on display. Many of the specimens can be held or touched and mammal experts will be on hand to answer questions.

Meet the Mammals is always a family-friendly event. You can make dog, cat or ape masks in the tradition of Carnival and wear your new finery as you stroll through the Burkes ¡Carnaval! exhibit. And there will be a costume contest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and until 8 p.m. on first Thursdays. Admission: $10 general, $8 senior, $7.50 student/ youth. Admission is free to children 4 and under, Burke members, and UW students, faculty, and staff.
