Flamenco artists to give master class, perform at Brechemin

Flamenco dancer and choreographer José Barrios and traditional Spanish dancers and instrumentalists from Madrids internationally renowned Fundación Conservatorio Flamenco Casa Patas will present a master class-performance of flamenco music and dance at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7 in Brechemin Auditorium.

Dancer and choreographer Barrios began studying flamenco in his native Cordoba and later studied in Seville and Madrid with Manolo Marín, Domingo Ortega and La China. He performed with María Pagés before the King and Queen of Spain as part of the gala evening at the Madrid Royal Theater to inaugurate the European Spanish Presidency. Barrios has danced in festivals around the world, including those in Andalucía and the Jal Kyoto Festival in Japan.

Other members of the group include Ana Gonzáles, dancer; Gema Caballero, vocals; Juan Debel, vocals; Isaac Muñoz, musical director and guitar; David Duán, guitar; and Wafir S. Gíbríl, accordíon, lute, and percussion
