Pianist Sheppard celebrates Liszts birthday with a concert
Faculty pianist Craig Sheppard performs works by Franz Liszt in observance of the 200th anniversary of the composers birth on Friday, Oct. 21.

Sheppards program includes the first two books of Les Années de Pèlerinage, composed when Liszt took flight from Paris with his mistress, La Comtesse Marie DAgoult. These incredible miniatures, inspired by broad Swiss landscapes and great works of Italian art, are among Liszts most significant works for solo piano.
Previously, Sheppard spent several seasons exploring the great keyboard works of J.S. Bach, recording live performances of the Six Keyboard Partitas, the Inventions and Sinfonias, and both books of The Well Tempered Clavier. A performance of The Last Three Piano Sonatas of Franz Schubert, recorded live in Seattles Meany Theater, was released in January.
The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. in Meany Theater. Tickets are $20, $12 for students and seniors. They are available at the Arts Ticket Office, 206-543-4880, or online.
