A collection of  abstract photographs by UW Medicine’s Dr. Alan Chait is on display now through Oct. 14 at the Naked City Brewing & Taphouse in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. The exhibit is titled Concrete, Cracks and Colors

Chait is the Edwin L. Bierman Professor of Medicine and head of  the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and  Nutrition in the Department of Medicine.

Chait began taking photographs as a teenager growing up in South Africa. He continues to hone his photography skills to capture interesting lines and vibrant colors in abstract images. Chait originally was a black and white photographer because he is red-green colorblind, but  he later decided to pursue photography in the colors he could perceive..

Michelle Averill, a  postdoctoral student in the Chait lab, where she studies the role of cholesterol in diabetes and obesity, is a co-owner of Naked City.  The gathering place and art venue is located at 8564 Greenwood Ave. N., Seattle.
