Registration still open for conference on integrity in conduct of research
Registration continues for the upcoming conference Ethical Considerations in Research Collaboration, which will be held Sept 22 and 23 in Meany Hall. The agenda and registration materials are online . Nationally recognized speakers from across the country will focus on ethical challenges in three areas of research collaborations:
- University-industry collaboration
- Researcher to researcher collaboration
- Collaboration in the International Arena
The theme of the conference is “Ensuring an Ethical Foundation for Interdisciplinary Collaborations in Biomedical Research and the Provision of Public Health Services.” The UW and Region X of the Public Health Service are presenting the conference with funding from the Office of Research Integrity of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Researchers, physicians, compliance officials, educators, central and departmental research administrators, attorneys and government employees are the intended audience for the conference, said Jeffrey Cheek, associate vice provost for research compliance & operations in the Office of Research. He said graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are especially encouraged to attend, and that attendees should consider bringing an institutional team with them to include the chief compliance officer, director of sponsored programs and the vice provost for research to work with the groups to identify and develop tactical methods for instituting best practices into their organizations.
Registrants can still submit an original abstract that represents their field of scholarly work; the deadline is Sept. 8. Please see Submit an Abstract page for more information.
Graduate student scholarships are available for attendance at the conference. Awards will be made first to graduate students who submit an original abstract that is relevant to the conference objectives. Awardees will have their online registration fee reimbursed.
