About 200 members of the UW community got to chat with and sample fare from several local, diverse catering companies at the fourth annual Business Connections Catering Event, held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, in the Walker-Ames Room of Kane Hall.
The annual event is organized by the Business Diversity Program, a part of Finance and Facilities, and UW Business Diversity Connections. The Business Diversity Program, its website states, “seeks to assure the equality of opportunity for small, minority- and women-owned businesses,” provides training and educational opportunties for businesses and encourages the UWs large suppliers and contractors to expand their commitment to business diversity.
The event was an opportunity for UW staff who coordinate departmental and other events to meet and talk with diverse and local caterers and get a better idea of what they and their companies can offer.
Catering companies showing their talents this year incldued Terentinos Catering, Pyramid Catering, Catering by Phyllis, Jewel Hospitality, Porters Place, Cupcake Royale, Alexas Café, Mamas Brown Bags, Mayas Restaurant, Bless IT Catering, Gourmondos Catering, The Catering Company, Smokin Petes BBQ, Bay Laurel Catering and DayoSense.
