Alumni association offers special deal on Husky plates

UW News

Bolstered by an encouraging response from the Class of 2010, the UW Alumni Association has decided to renew – and even expand – its promotion of Husky license plates.

The members of the Class of 2011 will be offered a free one-year upgrade of their Washington license plate to a Husky plate – a nearly $50 value, courtesy of the alumni association. The hope is that a significant number will not only take advantage of the offer but choose to renew the following year for $30 – of which $28 is a tax-deductible contribution to UW scholarships.

Last year was the first time that the association extended this offer, and so far 167 alums have chosen to renew the special plates.

This year, the offer is being broadened to include parents of current freshmen and also parents of the entering Class of 2015.

“The UW Alumni Association is thrilled to provide this opportunity to current students, graduating students and parents,” says Paul Rucker, executive director of the alumni association. “Besides enhancing scholarships that will benefit future generations of students, we see this as a way to act as a catalyst, to broaden and deepen engagement and connections with the University.”
