Chamber Singers perform works for choir and organ in Meany concert

The Chamber Singers, under the direction of Geoffrey Boers, will perform works for choir and organ in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in Meany Hall.

The program will include Psalm 90, by Charles Ives; Bright Mass with Canons, by Nico Muhly; Seek Him that Maketh the Seven Stars, by Jonathan Dove; Villarosa Sarialdi, by Thomas Jennefelt (Sweden); Psuedo Yoik, by Jaako Mantyjaarvi (Finland); chOirland, by Flaherty (Ireland) and Desh (India).

The works for organ will feature graduate organ students Sarah Patterson and Chris Howeter. Also on the program is a set of works with nonsense lyrics.

Boers is director of choral activities and the Mary K. Shepman Endowed Professor of Music. Under his direction, the UW choral program has grown to include nearly 20 graduate choral conductors each year, as well as nine ensembles conducted by five faculty and many graduate students, with nearly 600 singers participating.
