Keywords for Video Game Studies group ends year with colloquium

UW News

Keywords for Video Games Studies got its start in fall quarter as a new Graduate Interest Group. Now that group, having continued its work through the year, will hold a year-end colloquium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, in 202 Communications.

Advance notes state, “The Keywords forVideo Game Studies colloquium invites game scholars, artists, designers, developers, and enthusiasts to participate in roundtable discussions, presentations of individual and collaborative work, scholarship, and play. The colloquium is the capstone event to a yearlong series of workshop sessions on play, immersion/interactivity, avatar, power/control, and pedagogy. “

Organizers of the colloquium, which is free and open to all UW faculty, students and staff,  seek to foster the growing engagement with what it means to study or make or play digital games.

A full schedule of the colloquium is available online. Read an earlier UW Today article about the group.
