UW News

The Center for Serious Play at UW Bothell invites the public to participate in the Futures of Unconventional Narrative — FUN for short — Beta conference on May 20. The interactive event explores the increasingly rich intersection between games and stories.

The event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the center, located in the UW Bothell Beardslee Building.

FUN Beta, which will be held in the Center for Serious Plays work-play space, comprises two tracks of activities running simultaneously and will feature some of the regions top game designers and interactive narrative gurus.

“This event is a great example of how the Center for Serious Play fosters open communication between game and narrative professionals, educators and students in the Puget Sound area,” said Wanda Gregory, director of the center.

The event is sponsored by the Game Design Association, a locally based consortium of game designers committed to the craft of game content creation. Jordan Weisman, CEO of Go Go Kiddo, and Brian Tinsman of Zynga and president of the Game Design Association, will give the keynote address.

Following the workshop will be a reception and the opportunity to play games with some of the presenters. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required due to space limitations. To learn more and register, visit online.
