Pianist Yevgeny Sudbin to perform at Meany Hall April 20
Pianist Yevgeny Sudbin will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in Meany Hall, as part of the UW World Series.

Hailed by Londons Daily Telegraph as “potentially one of the greatest pianists of the 21st century,” Sudbin, 31, has performed in many of the world’s finest venues, both in recital and with orchestra. His 2010-11 season extends his international reach with a tour in Asia, including performances in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore and Taiwan.
Amid seven-year, 14-album collaboration with BIS Records, his recordings have met with overwhelming critical acclaim. The International Record Review stated that Sudbin’s Rachmaninoff recording “confirms him as one of the most important pianistic talents of our time.”
His release of works by Scriabin was chosen CD of the Year by the Daily Telegraph and CD of the Month by BBC Music Magazine, and was awarded the MIDEM Classical Award for best solo instrument CD at Cannes. His Haydn album, released in summer 2010, also met with great acclaim.
Sudbin has appeared with many of the world’s most distinguished orchestras, including the London Philharmonic. Recent North American engagements include performances with the Minnesota Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, San Francisco Symphony and North Carolina Symphony. In Europe, he has appeared with the Warsaw Philharmonic and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets are $37 ($20 for students) and may be purchased online, by phone at 206-543-4880 or in person at the UW Arts Ticket Office. Half-price rush tickets are available to students and seniors (age 60 and up) 30 minutes before curtain at the Meany Hall Box Office, also subject to availability.
