Libyan political scientist to speak at UW on April 4

Ali Ahmida, who knows Libya as a native and as a scholar educated in north Africa, will lecture at the UW on Monday, April 4.

Ahmidas talk is titled “Social Origins of Dictatorship & Democratic Uprising” and begins at 7 p.m. in 210 Kane. There is no charge for admission.

Ahmida holds the Ludcke Chair of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of New England. His publications include Forgotten Voices: Power and Agency in Colonial and Postcolonial Libya as well as The Making of Modern Libya: State Formation, Colonialization and Resistance.
