Experts to discuss Japan crises in April 6 panel

As the crises in Japan continue, a panel of six UW faculty members will discuss whats happened and what could happen next.

Epicenter Japan: Local Crises, Global Impacts is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in 120 Kane.

Speakers and topics are:

  • Gary Hamilton, (moderator) UW Japan Program interim chairman and professor, international studies and sociology.
  • Kenneth B. Pyle, Henry M. Jackson Professor of History and Asian Studies: Japans postwar history and nuclear context.
  • Marie Anchordoguy, professor of East Asian Studies: business and economics of Japan.
  • Ken Tadashi Oshima, associate professor of architecture: Japanese architecture and earthquakes.
  • Andrea Arai, lecturer: Japanese society and media representations.
  • Roger Raman, principal research scientist, aeronautics and astronautics: nuclear engineering.
