Symphonic Band performs new work, classics March 6

Members of the UW Symphonic Band, under the direction of Steven Morrison and Alison Farley, will perform at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 6 in Brechemin Auditorium. The program includes Serenade in Eb, Op. 7, by Richard Strauss; Tres Sonetos, by Silvestre Revueltas; and Quidditas, by Michelle McKenzie. McKenzie is a UW composition student and this is the premiere of her work.

Steven Morrison is associate professor and chair of music education at the University of Washington. An instrumental music specialist, Professor Morrison teaches courses in music education, classroom management, and research methodology and conducts the UW Symphonic Band.

Alison Farley is in her second year with the University of Washington Marching Band and Concert Bands. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Farley completed her undergraduate degree in music education at the University of Kansas and her masters degree in wind conducting at the University of Louisville. She is currently studying for her doctorate at the UW.
