Narwhal, polar bear research subject of talk Thursday

Kristin Laidre, an oceanographer with the UW Applied Physics Laboratory, will talk Thursday, March 3, at the Seattle Aquarium about the challenges and rewards of working in the high Arctic and her projects on narwhals and polar bears.

Laidre is the leadoff speaker in this years “Sound Conversations” series where local and international experts talk with KING 5 TVs meteorologist Jeff Renner about the challenges faced by marine creatures.

Shell describe the core arctic marine mammal species, how they handle the dynamic ecosystem found in the Arctic and how they might be affected by climate change. Tickets are $10.
