Nominations are now open for the second annual Husky Green Awards meant to recognize individuals or teams of UW students, faculty and staff whove helped advance environmental stewardship and sustainability at the Seattle, Tacoma or Bothell campuses.

Nominations may be submitted on the UW Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability website. Nominations close March 28 and awards will be announced on Earth Day, April 22.

Eight awards were presented last year ranging from a student who helped develop UWs composting program to a purchasing manager for UW procurement services who encouraged office supply vendors to offer UW buyers more sustainable products to the green team formed at UW Tower.

The award nomination committee will consider:

Leadership – Exemplary vision and leadership in developing, garnering support for and implementing a campus sustainability project
Initiative – Efforts beyond normal duties to promote campus environmental stewardship or sustainability
Dedication – Sustained effort over time to maximize impact, including efforts to build community support and involvement through awareness and outreach activities.

Award winners will receive a commemorative award from the Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee.
