Brown Bag Lunch Session: “Careers in Social Sciences and Global Health,” with Rachel Chapman, UW associate professor of anthropology; and James Pfeiffer, associate professor of global health. 2-3 p.m., Location TBD.

Panel discussion and tour: “Science Careers in Global Health at Seattle Biomed.” Includes a tour and hands-on experience in the BioQuest Learning Lab. 4:30 -6 p.m. 307 Westlake Ave. North, Seattle. Registration required, space is limited.

 

FRIDAY:

Brown Bag Lunch Session: Three returned Peace Corps volunteers will share stories from their experiences overseas and their work in global health.  12:30 – 1:30 p.m., 258 Mary Gates.

Film Screening: The Global Health Resource Centers World Health Cinema presents “The Invisibles” – a collection of five short films produced by Javier Bardem on diseases and issues faced by impoverished people in Africa and South America. One of the films in this Doctors Without Borders production is directed by award-winning German film director Wim Wenders who directed the documentary Buena Vista Social Club. Screening will be followed by a Q&A led by a volunteer healthcare professional from Doctors Without Borders.

Tag line for the film: “No es que no nos vean, es que no quieren vernos.” (Translated as: “It’s not that they can’t see us, it’s that they don’t want to see us.”)
