If youd like to take a chance on some art and help a student at the same time, you might want to consider the annual Scholarships for Scholars celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 8.  Put on by the 3D4M Program in the School of Art (3D4M stands for  Three Dimensional Forum, covering ceramics, glass and sculpture), the event includes a raffle and silent auction, with all proceeds going to support students.

A bud vase by Matt Mitros is among the auction items.

Its possible to buy tickets for the raffle prize — five ceramic plates by faculty Doug Jeck, Amie McNeel, Akio Takamori, Jamie Walker and Mark Zirpel — either before or during the event. Tickets are $25 or $250 for a book of 15. Contact Sharon Fruicci, administrator, 206-685-2552, sfrucci@u.washington.edu.

Bids on the silent auction items will be taken up until noon on the day of the celebration. After that, bidding will continue in person. Auction items were made by 3D4M faculty and staff, as well as by graduate students, distinguished alumni and friends. To place a bid, contact Professor Jamie Walker, 206-543-7179, jwalk@u.washington.edu.

Raffle and auction items can be viewed online. The celebration, which is open to the public, will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the 3D4M studio, which is on Clark Road near the Center for Urban Horticulture. The entry fee is $30 and includes studio tours, a cup of your choice, refreshments and music.
