More food, coffee options for a post-HUB campus

In its ongoing efforts to provide lunch in a post-HUB world, Housing & Food Services is opening two new coffee locations and repositioning one of its food trucks this month.

Padelford Espresso is a new coffee cart that will be stationed at the Stevens Way entrance to Padelford Hall, and will open on Tuesday, Jan. 18. Padelford Espresso will serve a full espresso drink menu, pastries by local artisan vendors like Pinks and Mighty O, as well as freshly wrapped sandwiches, cold drinks, snacks and more. The day it opens, staff from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters will hand out free brewed coffee and pastry samples to people at nearby bus stops.

Curbside 8 coming: H&FS also plans to open Curbside 8, its newest food truck, about Feb. 1. This truck will be located between More Hall and Mechanical Engineering on the pathway leading to Hec Edmundson Pavilion. H&FS describes the truck as an “open-air market style of food truck that serves a creative menu of comfort foods from around the world served in bowls.” The menu will reflect a broad range of flavors and cultural influences, and will be changed often.

Jolt & Volt is a new coffee kiosk that opened this week in the Electrical Engineering Building. Jolt & Volt is for those on the run who want a quick coffee or tea and a snack without waiting in a long espresso line. The kiosk will serve brewed coffee from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (no espresso drinks) and pastries by the Essential Baking Company, a local, certified organic bakery, as well as freshly wrapped sandwiches, cold drinks and other snacks.

More coming — to More Hall: H&FS also has moved its Siganos food truck from Red Square to the lawn outside More Hall, and is planning construction of a “temporary but modern and comfortable structure” called the More Hall Dining Pavilion that will seat up to 96 diners. It will be designed by Perkins+Will, and is scheduled to open in March.
