Seattle Public Library/UW Medicine free public lecture Nov. 3 looks at living organ donation

UW Medicine transplant surgeon Dr. Connie Davis will give the next lecture in the Seattle Public Library and UW Medicine free, public Medical Lecture Series.

Her topic will be “The Gift of Giving: How One Living Donor Can Start a Chain of Transplants.” The talk and discussion will talk place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, in the Microsoft Auditorium, Level 1, at the downtown Seattle Public Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Seattle.

With the need for transplanted organs far exceeding the supply, new, innovative ideas are essential to help thousands of patients.

Davis, UW professor of surgery, and director of Kidney Care and Transplantation Services at UW Medical Center, will explain how organ transplantation works and how just one living donor can start a chain of transplants to help several patients.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome.
