Dawg Dash turns 25 — grab your running shoes and join in

This year is the 25th anniversary of Dawg Dash, one of the UW Alumni Association’s most popular annual events. Any and all are invited to lace up their running shoes and take part. Oh, and Dawgs — make that dogs — are welcome, too.

The Dawg Dash is a 5K or 10K walk/run through the UW’s beautiful campus, and it takes place at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 24. The route begins and ends at Husky Stadium.

The cost is $30 for the general public and race-day registrants, $25 for Alumni Association members, and $20 for UW students. There’s also a run for kids age 10 and under called the Husky Pups Kid Dash at the stadium, where kids get to run with Harry the Husky, and that’s free.

The Husky Pups Kid Dash will be part of the Post-Dash Bash in Husky Stadium after the run/walk, with free food, beverages and an awards ceremony. Dawg Dash is a UW tradition that supports student scholarships. Last year’s event raised more than $10,000.

It’s all part of the UW’s ongoing Homecoming 2010 celebration.
