There’s a movie being filmed on campus — want to be an extra?

Want to be part of a movie? The independent film Judas Kiss began filming on the UW campus Wednesday, and will keep filming through Sept. 3 — and they’re looking for extras.

Producer Carlos Pedraza described the film this way: “It’s a story about a talented young filmmaker who has lost his way, wasted his potential, and gets a chance to go back to film school. He meets past and future versions of himself and gets a chance to change his destiny.” Pedraza said the UW locations are a school “that’s supposed to be a sort of magical reality place, where parallel time lines can intersect.” The film’s poster, on its website, says it’s “a new gay film about second chances to make things right.”

Judas Kiss is being produced by Blue Seraph Productions of Los Angeles, in partnership with Seattle’s Temporal Studios, and a number of local actors have been hired for parts.

The filmmakers need (unpaid) extras for their shoots — especially one on Saturday, Aug. 28, where they hope to fill up the Guggenheim Hall auditorium. Other days they just need five to 10 extras.

Pedraza suggests that any in the campus community who would like to be extras visit online at www.temporalcasting.com, where there is a link to an e-mail address where they can learn more about the shooting schedule and the filmmakers’ needs for extras.

He said it’s hoped that Judas Kiss will play various film festivals this coming winter, in advance of a summer 2011 release.
