School of Music vocal groups perform June 1, 3

The end of the school year is bringing vocal offerings from the UW School of Music. The Chamber Singers will perform on June 1, and the University Singers, Women’s Choir and Men’s Glee Club will team up for an evening of music on June 3.


The Chamber Singers, conducted by Geoffrey Boers, will present colla voce/collaboration/collage/collision, an evening of music making with faculty, students and guest artists, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 1. Highlights include a collaborative performance with faculty pianist Marc Seales and a collaboration with the UW Wind Ensemble, directed by Timothy Salzman, on a new work for wind and choir. Guests from Whitman College will perform a new work based on a text by Langston Hughes.


Then on Thursday, June 3, the University Singers, Women’s Choir and Men’s Glee Club will present their popular year-end concert, UW Sings. Program highlights will include a set called Cover Band by the University Singers and a collection of pop and Broadway pieces arranged for choir and jazz combo. The Men’s Glee Club will perform Blue Moon by Rogers and Hart, Kiss the Girl by Menken and Ashman and I’m a Believer by Neil Diamond as well as three works by Randall Thompson.
