Columbia prof to speak on separation of church and state

Mark Lilla, professor of humanities at Columbia University, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12 in 120 Kane as part of the Luce Lectures in Religion and Human Security. He will speak on The History of the Great Separation: Church and State.

“The revival of a radical political theology in Islam offers an opportunity to reconsider the history of church-state relations in the West and to think harder about the political challenges that religion presents today,” Lilla said.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m.
