Home Movie Day comes to Allen Auditorium Oct. 17

The UW Libraries Special Collections, in collaboration with Media Bay Productions, will sponsor Home Movie Day from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Allen Library Auditorium.

Home Movie Day, which is free and open to the public, is a celebration of amateur films and filmmaking held annually at numerous local venues worldwide, providing the opportunity for individuals and families to discover how best to care for their films and get a rare chance to view examples of home movies.

Hannah Palin, film archives specialist, will conduct a film preservation clinic from 2 to 3 p.m. which will be an opportunity for the public to get film preservation information, view examples of vintage film equipment, magazines and ephemera provided by Philip Borgnes of Media Bay Productions, and to bring in films for identification and preservation advice. There will be a home movie screening featuring selected films from Special Collections and from Philip Borgnes’ orphan film collection from 3 to 5 p.m.
