UW opens “Husky Central” in downtown Seattle

News and Information

On Thursday (Sept. 24) the UW launched a new presence in downtown Seattle : Husky Central. It is intended to be a one-stop location for “everything Husky” for people living, working and visiting downtown.

Initially, Husky Central will be located at 1321 Fourth Avenue in the Puget Sound Plaza building on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Union Street. It will include a branch of the University Book Store (the store’s eighth branch) , an information center where people can find out more about admissions, events on campus, including information on the arts, athletics, and tickets for special events, and UW Alumni Association activities. The hours for Husky Central will be Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

The new Book Store branch will feature Husky gear and a small selection of books related to the UW.

Puget Sound Plaza, part of the historic original site of the UW in 1861, also is the location of the classroom facilities for UW Professional and Continuing Education/Extension, which is celebrating the grand reopening of its expanded downtown Seattle classroom facilities. The celebration will include a Husky Band performance and open house from noon to 2 p.m.

Later this spring, Husky Central will move into larger space to offer “all things Husky” for the Seattle downtown community.
