UW Medicine Eye Institute opens at Ninth and Jefferson Building

The UW Medicine Eye Institute officially opened last week. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 15.

Located in the new Ninth & Jefferson building at Harborview Medical Center, the institute is one of the largest multi-specialty groups in the Northwest. Institute physicians, surgeons and researchers will provide comprehensive eye care for people with glaucoma, cataracts, and disease of the retina, cornea, orbit and nerves. Surgeons will also perform refractive and oculofacial plastic (cosmetic and plastic procedures).

Institute physicians and staff will continue to treat patients at the former Eye Clinic at UW Medical Center, as well.

The retail optical shop, Eyes on James, will open later this month.
