Media advisory: University of Washington clinic hosts ‘Kruzin’ Kent’ kids
WHO: Kent elementary school students, UW Medicine physicians and UW Medical Center dietitian Diane Javelli
WHAT: UW Medicine Kent/Des Moines clinic is taking part in a free summer activities program sponsored by the city of Kent and Kent4Health. The goal of Kruzin’ Kent, as the program is known, is to get kids and families to eat healthy and stay active. Participants must visit an EATSMART, PLAY HARD, or LEARN location between now and September 19.
Elementary school students will visit the Kent clinic and receive a stamp in their passports, showing that they’ve learned about a healthy behavior. AAA Pest Control, located nearby will also be on the kids’ route.
The passport program was launched May 30. Students win prizes for taking part in the program. The elementary school that turns in the most passports, for example, will receive new physical education equipment.
