Educational Opportunity Program celebration May 13

The Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity and the Friends of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) will present their annual celebration beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 in the HUB Ballroom.

The celebration features the outstanding achievements, inspiring stories, and academic success of EOP students. This special event raises funds for scholarships and also recognizes the Charles E. Odegaard Award recipient. Over 600 business and community patrons support the event each year.

W. Ron Allen, chairman and chief executive officer of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, is the 2009 Charles E. Odegaard Award Recipient. The Award, which was established in 1973, honors individuals whose leadership in the community and dedication exemplifies Odegaard’s work on behalf of diversity when he was president of the UW.

EOP awards will be presented to students who have made impressive contributions to the campus and community, while achieving academic excellence.
