International health experts to discuss evolving swine flu outbreak May 4

David Fleming, director and health officer of Public Health-Seattle & King County, will headline a panel discussion on the evolving swine flu outbreak at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, in Hogness Auditorium, A-420 Health Sciences Building.

Kathy Neuzil, chair of the Influenza Working Group of the Centers for Disease Control Committee on Immunizations Practices and director of the Influenza Vaccine Project at PATH, and Ann Marie Kimball, director of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and professor of epidemiology at UW, also will offer their insights.

The three panelists will speak and then open the floor to questions and answers. Lisa Cohen, director of the Washington Global Health Alliance, will serve as moderator.

“We are fortunate to have key leaders in pandemic preparation and preparedness here in Washington state. The panel will be a great opportunity for the public to get up-to-date information about this evolving public health situation,” said Cohen.

The panel discussion is part of the Washington Global Health Alliance Discovery series.
