Drug and device development symposium set for May 4

The UW Institute for Translational Health Sciences is hosting a symposium on drug and device development early next month.

The event, Academic Drug and Device Development: Optimizing translational research through public-private partnerships and data sharing, will be held Monday, May 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Orin Smith Auditorium at UW Medicine South Lake Union, 815 Mercer St., Seattle.

The symposium is aimed at providing a forum for researchers to learn how to develop their inventions for successful clinical development or handoff to industry for commercialization. Organizers also plan to present case studies in academic device and drug development programs, and to provide information on resources available for therapeutics and device development. The keynote speakers for the event are Lynn Matrisian of Vanderbilt University and the National Cancer Institute, and Isaac Kohane of Harvard Medical School.
