Spring BFA shows to open at Lawrence gallery

Who are the next generation of great artists? What traditions and inspirations are they drawing upon to create the next great work? One answer can be found at The Jacob Lawrence Gallery as it presents the UW School of Art spring BFA shows.


The UW School of Art in known for producing high quality successful visual artists. The class of 2009 is no exception, and has raised the bar both in quality of work and in the innovative and interdisciplinary approach to creation. This spring’s graduating Bachelor of Fine Arts students will be featured throughout the spring quarter in a pair of shows in the Jacob Lawrence Gallery.


The first BFA show will feature the students of ceramics, sculpture and photography. This show will run from April 15 to May 2 and be kicked off by an opening reception on April 14 from 4 to 6 p.m.


The second show of the spring will feature the BFA graduates working in fibers, sculpture, ceramics or painting. This show will run from May 13 to May 30 and will open with a reception on May 12 from 4 to 6 p.m.


Both receptions are free and open to the public and will feature refreshments and a chance to meet the curators and artists.


The Jacob Lawrence Gallery is free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. The gallery is located on the first floor of the Art Building. Click here to learn more.
