Wind ensemble, bands to perform March 10

The UW Wind Ensemble, Symphonic, Concert and Campus Bands present “Urban Landscapes” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in Meany Theater.


The UW Wind Ensemble, directed by Timothy Salzman, will play Sinfonietta No. 1: In the Blue of an Electric Dawn, by James M. David; and Trauersinfonie, by Richard Wagner. The group’s rendition of Raise the Roof, by Michael Daugherty, will be led by Vu Nguyen, with Chia-Hao Hsieh as timpani soloist.


The UW Symphonic Band, directed by Brad McDavid, will play Symphony No. 1, Movement One, City of Gold, by Steven Reineke. Eric Smedley will conduct for Cityscape, by Scott Boerma.


Vu Nguyen and Angela Zumbo will conduct the UW Concert Band in Dusk, by Steven Bryant and Shortcut Home, by Dana Wilson, while Gary Brattin and Kirsten Cummings will conduct the UW Campus Band in Impressions of Cairo, by Robert Washburn; and Renaissance Fair, by Bob Margolis.
