Panel discussion of MS and neuro-degenerative diseases, Feb. 18

The Pacific Northwest has a higher incidence of multiple sclerosis (MS) than most anywhere on earth. No one knows exactly what causes MS, or why it’s so prevalent in our part of the world. The public is invited to explore this topic with members of the Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association (WBBA) from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Swedish Medical Center, James Tower Education Center, 550 17th Ave., Seattle. The discussion will cover industry, academic and clinical perspectives on discoveries, research and treatment before a diverse audience of patients, clinicians and WBBA members.

The panel will feature Sylvia Lucas of the UW, Meenu Chhabra of Allozyne, and Marc Mayberg of Seattle Neuroscience Institute. The moderator will be Joe Piper, founder and managing director of Integra Ventures and chair of National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater WA chapter.
