Christy Gullion appointed UW director of federal relations
Christy Gullion, who has nearly two decades of experience working for a variety of federal, state and local agencies, has been appointed the UW’s director of federal relations, Interim Vice President for External Affairs Randy Hodgins announced.
Most recently, Gullion has served as director of federal relations for Washington2Advocates, a government affairs consulting firm, where she was responsible for managing lobbying strategies for multiple and diverse clientele (including the UW), as well as building and maintaining successful relationships with members of Congress and their staff.
Gullion also has served as northwest Washington director for U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, chief of staff to King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson and as a legislative analyst for U.S. Rep. Brian Baird.
“We are fortunate to bring her knowledge and experience back to the Pacific Northwest to represent the University of Washington,” Hodgins said.
As UW’s director of federal relations, Gullion will be the University’s chief representative in Washington, D.C. She will also be a key member of the University’s administrative team, advising the vice president for external affairs on higher education issues at the federal level.
Gullion holds a B.A. in education from Central Washington University and an master’s in public administration from The Evergreen State College. Her appointment is effective Feb. 2.
