Financial Crisis: Perspectives from the UW

Three UW faculty members will discuss the ongoing world economic troubles at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Town Hall, in an evening presented by the UW and the Town Hall Center for Civic Life.

Jonathan Karpoff, professor of finance and business economics, and Lew Mandell, visiting professor of finance — both from the UW’s Foster School of Business — will join David Domke of the Department of Communication, in a panel discussion moderated by Steve Scher of KUOW radio.

From the perspectives of finance and politics, the panelists will discuss how and why the crisis occurred, how it might be influenced by the presidential election, and steps we should take to protect our own pocketbooks and get the economy back on track.

Town Hall is located at 1119 Eighth Ave. in Seattle. Tickets for this evening are $5 and are available at the door beginning at 6:30, and in advance through www.brownpapertickets.com, 800-838-3006. Town Hall members receive priority seating.
