Hearing impaired students to show animation work Friday
Students at the Summer Academy for Advancing Deaf & Hard of Hearing in Computing will show the results of their work in animation at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, in 105 Electrical Engineering. A dessert social in the adjoining Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science and Engineering will follow.
Nine of the brightest deaf and hard of hearing students from all over the United States have been attending the nine-week academy, where they are taking classes in computer programming and animation, as well as meeting deaf and hard of hearing role models already working in computer science, computer engineering, information science, information systems and information technology.
The program is part of AccessComputing, a joint project of DO-IT and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, with funding from the National Science Foundation.
